Everything about British Rally Championship totally explained

The Tesco 99 Octane MSA British Rally Championship is a yearly rallying series based in the United Kingdom. It consists of six rounds throughout the country and takes in the Wales Rally GB WRC event. The first championship was run in 1958 and it's licensed by the Motor Sports Association. The current British Rally Champion is Guy Wilks.
2008 will see the 50th anniversary celebration of the Championship with a special BRC rally show at the Chatsworth Rally Show where many of the former Champions will be attending to celebrate.
The championship is open to cars in classes:
Rally 4 (R4) - All four wheel drive Group N4 and Super 2000 cars Rally 3 (R3) - Super 1600 Cars and cars homologated to Rally 3, including Group N4 Diesel cars Rally 2 (R2) - Groups N3, A6 and cars homologated to Rally 2 Rally 1 (R1) - Groups N1, N2 and cars homologated to Rally 1
All cars contesting the 2008 British Rally Championship must use Pirelli tyres and Tesco 99 Octane fuel supplied by Greenergy

Pirelli Star Driver

The Competition is designed to find future rallying talent by selecting one candidate finalist from each round of the 2008 Tesco 99 Octane MSA British Rally Championship, with the aim of offering six drivers a chance to compete in an end of season shoot-out competition; the winner of which will win Pirelli support with a fully funded drive in the 2009 BRC. 2007 winner Darren Gass will drive a Mitsubishi Evo IX in the 2008 BRC.

BRC Challenge

The championship also runs a support series called the BRC Challenge. The championship is designed to act as a feeder to the main championship and provides the champion winner with the opportunity to contest the famous Rally GB. 2007 champion Luke Pinder has already announced plans to contest the R2 class in the 2008 BRC.
